Molecular sieves play an important role in the liquefied petroleum gas industry. They not only play a role in improving product quality, protecting the environment and equipment, but also have important significance in improving production efficiency and reducing costs.

The application of molecular sieves in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) mainly includes the following aspects:

1. Drying and desulfurization:

Molecular sieves are widely used in the drying and desulfurization process of liquefied petroleum gas. 13X molecular sieve, also known as sodium X molecular sieve, has a crystal pore size of about 1 nanometer. Compared with type A molecular sieve, 13X molecular sieve has a larger pore size and pore volume, and the static water adsorption can reach 26%, which performs well in drying and purification.

In the treatment of natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and liquid alkanes (such as propane, butane, etc. in liquefied petroleum gas), 13X molecular sieve can remove moisture and sulfides, extend the service life of downstream equipment, and improve the safety and stability of the production process.

2. Removal of moisture and sulfide:

Molecular sieves can remove moisture and sulfide in the treatment of LPG, which is essential for preventing corrosion of downstream equipment and improving product quality.

This application of molecular sieves helps to obtain products with lower impurity content, reduce acid consumption, and prevent corrosion of downstream equipment.

3. Alkylation reaction:

Molecular sieves are also used as catalysts for LPG alkylation reactions.

Through specific preparation methods, molecular sieve catalysts can increase the olefin conversion rate and octane number (RON) in LPG reactions, while reducing the deactivation rate and extending the service life of the catalyst.

4. Removal of acidic gases:

Molecular sieve technology can be used to remove acidic gases such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2) from LPG.

This is necessary for the purification process of LPG, as these acidic substances can reduce pipeline transmission efficiency and corrode pipelines.

5. Dehydration and removal of pollutants:

Molecular sieves play an important role in the dehydration and removal of pollutants in LPG.

They can effectively remove contaminants such as moisture, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, oxoacid salts and carbon dioxide to meet the final quality specifications of LPG.

6. Protect downstream equipment:

Molecular sieves protect downstream equipment by consistently drying natural gas to levels below 0.1 ppmv, preventing ice formation and the resulting pressure drop.
